Having trouble finding that must-have out-of-print or rare book on Amazon, Borders or Barnes & Noble? Try my favorite booksearch site bookfinder.com. You’ll love it.

With over 100 million books available for sale, it is the largest searchable book catalog, online or off. The free access website allows users to search and compare new, used, rare and out-of-print books worldwide. You can even find an autographed first edition.

The interface is basic and clean. Search by title or author. Bookfinder links are to the original booksellers, from whom the purchase is made. Bookfinder does not charge any additional fees. They claim to have 100,000 independent booksellers in their database.

The site was launched in 1997 and is run by bibliophiles Anirvan Chatterjee and Charlie Hsu. According to Bookfinder, the #1 most sought after out-of-print book in 2005 was Madonna’s “Sex”, published in 1992.

I have never failed to find any title I have searched for on the site. I even found the Yellow Kid, The Autobiography of Joseph Weil. To those of you who love the film The Sting, look up this title.

Sellsius plans to incorporate a bookstore which will highlight real estate related titles and other books of interest to consumers.
