Zillow’s own David G is stirring the shitake over at Zillow.com with a poll asking readers to answer the question: “What’s the difference between a Realtor and an agent?” Go vote.
Seems RealtorGenius blog has gotten a nasty letter from the National Association of Realtors to cease and desist using their trademark “realtor”. And, coincidentally, this morning we posted “Can the Realtor Trademark Fall into the Public Domain?“. The impetus for my post was not RealtorGenius, but the new social networking site Realtorclix.com, which I was asked to take a look at last week.
Anyhoot, having filed and fought my share of cases in the Trademark Office, I think this might be interesting. So, I am offering my legal services to RealtorGenius to see if we can get NAR to back down. Give me a call B.R.

I’ll come back in a week or two when the poll’s had some good exposure to the consumers on Zillow and post the results.
Thanks David.
Is branding yourself as a Realtor really worth a damn anymore? The people most vocal on this seem to be Realtors and not the consumer. Is the designation REALTOR similar to getting an online degree for $19.95 only more pricey?
You tell me. I’m not a REALTOR and have only been in the biz a little over a year. The other two team members are. I have yet to see one instance where being a Realtor had any influence. Of course, I can’t go to the convention - maybe that’s the big deal.
I think the results of the poll prove that:
a- Realtors participate on Zillow
b- Consumers don’t
Try it! (68% picked the right answer)

Almost; I think the result so far proves that Realtors read this blog
I did think twice about posting the link for that very reason - but regardless - let’s give it a few weeks and see how it pans out.
