Ustream.tv was one of the hits at the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco. All you need is a webcam to film and broadcast live events. What’s also pretty neat is the ability to chat with viewers while you’re filming. Simply sign up for a free Ustream account, point your webcam at something live and you are a broadcaster. This oughta get some bloggers off their chairs and on the streets.
Be your own Justin.tv. Owyang, Scoble and Pirillo Ustreamed the Expo. [I was never a big Scoble fan (goes back to Bell Labs) until he strapped the camera to his back and hit the pavement. Now I’m a fan and do not think he is at all irrelevant to Web 2.0. Quite the contrary, he’s at the bleeding edge in my opinion.]

I like so many features in Microsoft’s third version of NetShow, the company’s video broadcasting and distribution software, that I can’t bring myself to single out just one. On a level from 1 to 10, with 10 being virtually unattainable, I’d give NetShow 3.0 an 8.5.
