Timing is everything.
My friend (and fellow attorney), Scott Forcino, Esq., founder of ProRealEstateCity, a business networking site, told me about TalkFusion, a video email product he was using to market his new website. He sent me a few which I thought were pretty slick.
Since I am a fan of video applications, I thought…..hmm …… how I could use this in an interesting way. Since it was during the holidays, I figured I’d have some fun and send out video Christmas emails.
It took about 15 minutes to create the video email below (now I can create one in 30 seconds). Once created, I can embed the video link anywhere (like here). (click to play). I sent the video to family and friends and was surprised it got passed around.
Creating a video email with TalkFusion is pretty simple:
1. Pick a template or build your own (like I did: banner, colors, greeting, image, contact info. Easy.)
2. Upload a video from your webcam or computer. The system will save your videos for use in later emails. (the system also saves your templates.)
3. Add your contact information.
DONE! Save and email to folks in your address book at any time.
Here’s are some of the pre-packaged real estate templates:
Here are some uses for video email:
- Just Listed properties
- Open House announcements
- Thank you for your business, referral, etc
- Congratulations on your new home
- Promotional video
- Video news reports
- Alternative to leaving a voice message
OK. So what does this video email cost?
I paid $349 (they throw in a Logitech webcam– a good one) and pay $20 a month to send unlimited video emails to up to 1,000 folks. Not a bad deal. Plus, I get stats on who opened the email, if it was forwarded and whether the forwarded email was opened. Neat. There is no fixed contract (it’s month to month) so I can cancel at anytime.
I’ve been using TalkFusion for a couple of months now with no problem (except I have to use IE instead of Firefox).
But, there is one WARNING— the folks behind TalkFusion are using multi-level marketing to sell the product, so if you sign up for the newsletter, you’ll get video emails from assorted smiling knuckleheads blowing MLM smoke up your ass — pretty annoying, since I don’t smoke. I can unsubscribe to the newsletter but I get a kick out of listening to their schtick.
If, however, you think you might make some extra dough with this, sign up as an independent associate (costs $50.) They say you make $25 or $500* commission per order ($500 if someone buys an Executive multi-user model), plus some kind of residual monthly income, plus… blah blah blah. Yeah, right. I put the TalkFusion ad in the sidebar if anyone wants to check it out.
Anyone using video email or TalkFusion?
