Animoto: A Hip New Twist on Slideshows

Animoto is a cool new application for photographs. It creates a hybrid slideshow/video. I just uploaded pics I had from Inman Blogger Connect in San Francisco and picked the music track. Bam! Animoto.

Here’s what Animoto is about (in their own words):

Animoto Productions is a bunch of techies and film/tv producers who decided to lock themselves in a room together and nerd out.

Their first release is Animoto, a web application that automatically generates professionally produced videos using their own patent-pending technology and high-end motion design. Each video is a fully customized orchestration of user-selected images and music. Produced on a widescreen format, Animoto videos have the visual energy of a music video and the emotional impact of a movie trailer.

The heart of Animoto is its newly developed Cinematic Artificial Intelligence technology that thinks like an actual director and editor. It analyzes and combines user-selected images and music with the same sophisticated post-production skills & techniques that are used in television and film.

They are based in New York City, with an office in San Francisco. Now, that’s a creative connection.

Animoto is fun.
With their one-click remix button, you can create a completely new version of your slideshow each time. Their unique algorithm does all the heavy lifting for you. Very user friendly.

• Pick your photos.
• Pick your own music in .MP3 format from your music collection.
• Click
• Sit back and enjoy.

Want to market yourself, your business or a listing in a creative way, take a look at Animoto. Unlimited 30 second clips are free. You gotta pay for a full length video— a whopping three bucks (or $30 for a year of unlimited Moto). Giddyup!

This is so much fun. I wrote a post on Animoto for WP users and some possible gottchas with the Wordpress rich text editor. I figure there will be a lot of people wanting to try it out because of your introduction.

Talk about marketing to the post modernity crowd. I’ve got to try a virtual tour to hip hop.

Glad to see you two back in the pool. Now it is a matter of balance!

Would using them as a virtual tour platform break the Animoto Terms of Service though?
