Recruit on YouTube? The British Military Does

Looking for another marketing advantage for video?  How about recruitment for your business?  Not a good idea?  Well, the British military blokes think it might be.  The Ministry of Defense, Royal Air Force and Royal Navy have had channels on YouTube since 2006.  The videos give a “boots on the ground” perspective.  The RAF Afghan Diaries are especially popular.

BBC News reported:

Defence analyst Gordon Mackenzie, who served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, said in marketing terms, the site offered a low-cost medium to attract new recruits… it’s cheap compared to a 60 second advert on prime time television.

Perhaps your business needs new recruits to do battle in this tough market.

  • viral videos on youtube are a great way to attract people to your company/market. i really feel that traditional advertising is slowly losing its importance and effectiveness and more content driven forms are being more significant.
  • Smart, those Brits are smart. They should be on MySpace too! Not Facebook though; someone might throw fruit or a hamburger or something!
