Is video the new photo in real estate marketing?
“Not yet”, according to the first Real Estate Video Report by WellcomeMat. But it’s close. According to the Report, WellcomeMat showed a 95% increase in video uploads in the first half of 2009, compared to last year.
But, here’s the shocking finding, in my opinion:
- 89% of real estate agents (using video) say video improves their ability to win listings over their competitors. Video is a differentiation tool.
Video is used not only to market listings but to introduce agents to their potential clients, showcase the local area (neighborhoods, schools, etc.), and demonstrate an agent’s market knowledge.
What do consumers value (visually) in a listing?
- Photos – 48%
- Video – 41%
- Visual tour – 9%
- Floorplans – 2%
Who’s Uploading Video: Pro Videographer or Do-It-Yourselfer?
Interestingly, WellcomeMat says 6 out of 10 uploads are DIY. Why? Well, it might be due to the ease in creating and uploading video, thanks, in large part, to the Flip video camera.
What are the largest obstacles to using video in real estate marketing?
- Not enough knowledge- 46%
- Cost – 33%
- Time – 14%
- Demand – 7%
