Looking for a hot real estate market? This one’s been hot for the past 43 years and looks to keep on smoking for a hundred more.
Located in central Pennsylvania, Centralia is the home of the world’s largest underground mine fire, burning since 1962. A few hardy (crazy) souls remain.
“Over 43 years and 40 million dollars later the fire still burns through old coal mines and veins under the town and the surrounding hillsides. The fire, smoke, fumes and toxic gases that came up through the back yards, basements and streets of Centralia practically ripped the town apart. Today Centralia is a near-ghost town with only a few remaining hold-outs who refused government offers of compensation.”

That sign would make me turn around. Interesting story.
Wow, would have guessed this as a desciption for a “hot” real estate market. Especially at this time, it’s a bit difficult to find a “hot” real estate market in the US. The credit problems, the banking mess, the drop in housing values are all contributing to investors focus on international real estate opportunities. Dubai, UAE, is an impressive location for those who are in a position to invest money in real estate internationally - even the Trump Organization is now in Dubai. My company has a market guide available for those who are considering investing money in real estate in Dubai. Anyone can check it out at: Dubai Real Estate Market Guide
LOL. I saw the title and dropped in for some tips, wasn’t expecting this story. I am pretty sure I won’t be buying in that area any time soon. Too funny thanks.
