Barrow Jolted to Change Town Name to Energy Drink

Remember Halfway, OR, the town that changed its name to a website, Half.com ?

Well, Barrow, Alaska has changed its name to Jolt, Alaska, after the uber-caffeinated Energy Drink. The new name will only last one day, as part of Jolt’s marketing campaign — but that day is a long one. Because it’s the summer solstice, and Barrow lies 320 miles north of the Arctic Circle, that one day is 1,992 hours long– about 3 months.

The company felt the town’s residents needed a jolt to help them get through the day and they plan to keep the 4,000 town folk wired. Things can get ugly in Jolt.
