LA Dodger pitcher Matt White’s good deed may make him a billionaire. An elderly aunt needed money for a nursing home. Matt paid $50,000 for her 50 acres of raw land in western Massachusetts. While clearing the land to build a house, he discovered a lot of rocks. How many? A quarry full, worth an estimated 2 billion dollars, according to a geologist who says there is upwards of 24 million TONS of stone. That’s a lot of sidewalk. Even if he didn’t want to be a quarryman, he could flip the land for a nice profit–possibly a few million. Matt has had some TV offers and a possible movie deal. Now, we hope his dear aunt is getting a better shake than a nursing home bed and bingo night.

Poetic Postscript: The story was dugg a couple of days ago and prompted this comment from the wallbanger:
Well, listen to a story ’bout a man named Matt
The poor LA pitcher couldn’t strike ‘em out at bat
But then one day while he’s digg’n for his home
Up through the ground come two billion worth of stone.

I say good for him, and hopefully that translates into a really nice place for his grandmother as well. We all, most of us probably, have fantasies of some great thing coming our way, and his has certainly found him!
Imagine - TWO BILLION, FROM the ground!! WOW!
I LOVE this story. Just goes to show you how sometimes “paying it forward” can have very rewarding results! A great story for me to wake up to this Sunday morning.
Thanks!
It’s a great story. Sometimes you don’t know from where your success will come. ANd many times it’s from a place you never expected.
I’m sorry but I just can’t be happy for this guy. I hate the Dodgers.
Inside each of us a great power wants to go out , we can move a mountain from place to another with this power but we need somthing to urge us …
