Zillow Still Wants To Entertain You

We want to entertain,” Barton (of Zillow) said, “we don’t want to lose the frivolous entertainment value.”

As quoted in San Francisco Chronicle, Zillow traffic up after shift. Site known for real estate prices decided to add for-sale listings by Marni Leff Kottle, staff writer.

Posted for those who wonder why Zillow added the “Make Me Move” 3M feature. We thought 3M was innovative and creative, a USP. For us, the joke is the zestimate beside the list prices on the search results page and also on the individual listing page, albeit below the fold. It’s not funny that owners, and their agents, have no right to prohibit inaccurate information, especially as to value, on their listings. If you truly want to help real estate agents and owners, acknowledge this right and give them the option to remove or hide it from view. Marketing and selling real estate is no place for frivolity. If I want entertainment I’ll go to the carnival.

Zillow, you finally have a chance to be of real value to the industry, stop monkeying around.
